Sources

We use primary and authoritative sources wherever possible. The source must match the claim: legislation for legal rules, regulators for taxi requirements, responsible operators for local arrangements, and companies for facts about their own services.

Our source hierarchy

  1. Swedish legislation and official legal texts for statutory requirements.
  2. National authorities and public consumer bodies for regulation, official guidance and complaint procedures.
  3. Responsible airport, station or local infrastructure operators for arrangements that apply only at a particular location.
  4. Taxi and app companies themselves for their own current products, booking methods, payment options and service terms.

Company material is not treated as independent evidence that the company is better than its competitors. News articles, forums and user reviews may help identify questions worth investigating, but they are not our preferred authority for rules or legal claims.

How we verify claims

We do not publish factual claims based only on AI inference, plausible reasoning or an unsupported synthesis of sources. If a reliable source supports only part of a statement, we publish only the part that can be verified.

First-hand observations may be included when they have genuinely been made by Sweden Taxi Guide, but they are identified as observations rather than presented as external facts or general rules. Practical advice and comparisons are also kept distinguishable from sourced factual claims.

If a claim cannot be verified with sufficient confidence, we prefer to omit it rather than fill the gap.

Core sources

Legislation

Used when the exact legal rule matters.

National taxi regulation

Transportstyrelsen is our main source for taxi licensing, vehicles, taximeters, price information and the alternative system using special taxi equipment.

Consumer disputes and complaints

Consumer guidance and dispute procedures are checked against the responsible public bodies.

Airports and local transport locations

Location-specific rules are checked against the organisation responsible for that location.

When official sources disagree

We do not assume that every official webpage is automatically current in every detail. If a material figure or rule conflicts with current legislation or a more specific official document, we investigate the underlying rule and document material discrepancies rather than silently reconciling them.

For Swedish authorities, we normally use the current Swedish-language version as the primary source when it differs from an English translation of the same information, unless there is evidence that the English version is newer. Translated pages can lag behind updates to the Swedish original.

Review dates

Important guides show an “Information checked” date. This means the time-sensitive claims and cited sources were reviewed on that date; it is not a guarantee that no source has changed since then.
